=================================== Dragon Warrior Speedrun IV WR route =================================== These are my personal route notes. They're not as up to date as the guide at cowness.net/DW4Guide but has some details in it that I should move out into their own files - CHAPTER 1 - Sell Copper Sword for Wooden Hat - Tryhard strat is to unequip armor, sensible strat is to put on the hat. - If you tryhard you will probably die a lot on the way to Izmit, but you're only two minutes in, so. Walk on top of castle a few times (~35 back and forths, 70 steps total) Talk to kid running around in circles in Izmit's schoolyard at night - Sometimes it won't be night when you get to the town. Randomly the game won't progress time when you take a step... Remove armor/hat and deathwarp to Burland (Hope for stumps or babbles, but even if you run into one Slime, use the first battle you find) Talk to Flora (Alex's wife, south of priest) Re-equip armor/hat Take her to Alex (Get 40 gold chest in tunnel and buy five herbs in Izmit) Go to playground, get Flying Shoes Get Healie STRIP and deathwarp - Look for a fight with two monsters that aren't Healers and have Ragnar hit himself until you reach 12 or fewer HP, then run until you die - Ideal fight is two Lethal Gophers that are both targeting Ragnar (they won't switch targets until their target dies) Re-equip armor/hat, use Shoes Waddle down the tower - Grab the Scale Shield on the way down the tower; can't miss it (If you haven't used an herb, use one before opening the chest) - Sword of Malice at bottom of tower in top-left room (If your inventory is full still, use an herb before opening the chest) Grind to level 6. Additional levels don't really help, and 5 even works if your HP is high (>40). - Grind by walking back and forth on the partition between the main hall and the room with the Sword of Malice - Walk to the healing pad either one fight after you hit 5, or when Healie's MP drops to 6. - Leave the healing pad to go toward the boss with 1-2 fights until the level up. (Fighting your way there isn't more dangerous than running, really.) Fight Saro's Shadow (Kill the eyeball first, 250/42 HP; They both spawn with max HP) - This boss is RNG and you will die to it. - When the eyeball drops under 25% of its max HP it will heal to 30 HP and start murdering you. (glhf) - This won't happen unless the eyeball defends. You can USE SoM on turn two if eyeball defends on turn one, and a low damage roll might save you (it usually doesn't). - The eyeball will sometimes (rarely) take half damage even though it's attacking you and not actually defending. When this happens, quit and play something else. - As a side note, you'll occasionally notice Healie can do this, too. Healie can also take full damage even though he's parrying... - Healie won't heal himself unless he's at 16 HP or fewer, and he can take up to 18 damage from Firebal or like 23 damage from SS's physical hit. - Very little of this is advice, but rather just complaints. You can't do much to improve your chances here. Leveling up Ragnar doesn't help, armor doesn't help, and Healie can't get stronger. Wow, you get to play chapter two. Walk out of the tower and use the shoes again. Grab Wyvern Wing from second floor (from top) of tower Return children, Wing to Burland, talk to king, GG Chapter complete! - CHAPTER 2 - Talk to the guard on the left of the entrance, Cristo, Brey Get feather hat from bedroom Search wall, kick it to forest escape Alena takes Cristo's club Cristo buys a Copper Sword Equip everything: Mash B to back out of Cristo's equip menu after equipping the sword Grind to 4-4-3 outside Tempe (I hate this grind) - Rabidhound (23 HP, 7 XP) > Troglodyte (13 HP, 4 EXP) > Giant Worm = Elerat (11 HP, 3 EXP) > Gopher = Red Slime (10 HP, 2 EXP) > Kaskos Hopper (8 HP, 1 EXP) - Minons (16 HP, 5 EXP) take a while to kill because of their defense, but are worth it in my opinion (do not cast Icebolt; some runners run from them at levels 1-2 but I don't) - You will notice Alena CAN always kill a Red Slime in one hit, but it doesn't always happen. Just saying. - Brey should Icebolt anything worth more than 2 EXP. Don't worry about spending his magic; the Tempe inn takes ~10 seconds to use. - Hope that you do not encounter seven Kaskos Hoppers. They all focus one character and only give 1 EXP. Run, or fight and have Brey parry. Defeat Chameleon Humanoid (Lifeforce Nuts get) - HP: 23/40/23; Humanoid can cast Heal twice if an ally is at low HP (and will rarely put you to sleep on-hit) - If you cast Upper on Alena, the fight is free. - Turn 1: Alena attack Rabidhound, Brey Sap Humanoid, Cristo Upper Alena (Get the Sap off and don't worry about Brey dying) - Turn 2: Alena attack/Brey Icebolt Rabidhound, Cristo heals. - Turn 3: Alena/Cristo attack, Brey Icebolt other Rabidhound - Etc: All attack Humanoid, hope he doesn't heal. - Make sure you kill the Rabidhounds first so that you get the nut drop - It's possible to fight him at level 3 without Upper, but you'll probably die. Grab the Lifeforce Nuts on sacrificial altar Kill whatever you encounter on the way to Frenor for extra gold. I usually grind until Alena hits 6 for Birdsong safety. Trigger kidnapping at the inn (Stay at inn if necessary) Re-order party: Alena Brey Cristo - If Brey dies from here on out, do not revive him until Endor - If Brey is dead, only Orcs and spellcasters can attack Cristo Buy Chain Mail for Alena, then Wings (6), antidotes (two), herbs (to taste, I prefer 4-5) - Sell Silk Robe, Club, Copper Sword in that order if needed Savescum for maximum HP from Lifeforce Nuts, or yolo them. BEFORE BREY DIES, make sure you have twice as much gold as you need to revive Cristo (Have 60 if he's level 5, 80 if he's level 6) Run to Golden Bracelet. - Grab the agility seed if you need/want extra gold; using it isn't really worth the steps. - Basically just heal after every fight if you take more than one hit. Cristo shouldn't run out of magic. STRIP, Deathwarp, revive only Cristo. Run to Bazaar, get strength seed in pot west of inn, talk to soldier Return to Santeem, style on the castle until night (Don't talk to king or anything, that'd be stupid) Return to Frenor Turn in Bracelet for Thief's Key Savescum strength seed and agility seed Return to Bazaar Birdsong Nectar tower (Race strat: Get gold and strength seed after the Endor grind; really makes things safer but you need to already have gold for pre-grind revival) - First floor, stairs are left of the middle - Second floor, go to left wall and down - Third floor, enter room from the south Strength Seed/1200 gold, then back down - Second floor, down from the first set of stairs (instead of left wall) to south-east corner - Third floor, wrap around clockwise - Fourth floor, wrap around clockwise - Fifth floor, search for nectar and Wyvern Wing out (Santeem) - Heal Alena to >30 on lower two floors, heal Alena to FULL after every fight on top two floors. Deliver the Mystic Throat Coat to the King Wing to Frenor, revive Brey and save the game Run to Endor Grind to 11 on Metal Slimes (only takes two; under twenty minutes is a good time, but this can easily take as long as an hour) - Grinding on Grislysabers in the Birdsong Nectar tower takes about 30-35 minutes but is viable for races - You will probably quit the run after this grind and question your life decisions - You will also question things like, "Is it a 50% chance to damage a metal slime?" "Do they really run only three times in eight?" "Does Alena really crit more than the others?" - Pray you end up with good stats on Alena because her stats can fluxuate wildly (see note below) Return to Frenor and grab the 360 gold chest at start of golden bracelet cave Talk to the king of Endor Grab Lifeforce Nuts on left side of castle Savescum any seeds you still have Endor Tournament (Buy Iron Claw and five herbs from item dealer in the green room) - Hun: 70 HP, with high attack (82+) you should kill him in three hits - Roric: 90 HP, hopefully he defends a lot. With bad strength you might have to use an herb. - Vivian: 90 HP/12 MP. - Icebolt costs 2, Firebal costs 4, Healmore costs 5. - Potentially a good idea to run out her MP with Parry if she opens with Firebal? - She'll cast Healmore at about 25% health. I've seen her fail to cast twice without realizing she's out of magic (one spell was Healmore, one was something else) - Sampson: 90 HP, tons of defense power (before the fight, use herbs until you're 10-15 HP from full) - If you have high attack (82+) you can beat this guy in six hits if you deal an average of 15 damage. - You probably don't have high attack, it will take 7-8 hits to kill him. If it's eight, hope for a critical hit... - He can heal with a medical herb if is health is low, so once you knock him under 50% HP, heal to full with herbs and then try to burn him down with attacks. - Linguar: 55 HP, massive troll - With really high attack power (84+), you can kill this guy in two hits, but that probably won't happen - You probably also don't have an herb - THERE IS NO PATTERN TO LINGUAR'S MOVEMENTS! His movement is determined with frame-perfect RNG. - Linguar will lose built-up power if he moves after building up! - If my HP is high, I follow him to punish him in case he actually hits me for double damage - If my HP is low enough that I'm screwed if he hits me for double, I do NOT follow him. He also has a chance of building up again if he moves. If you're reading this, wow, you get to play the rest of the game. Walk all the way out of Endor, Return to Santeem Take one step into throne room (one step after Brey says his line), Return out. Alena's stats at level 11: 71-91 HP, 75-86 ATK/39-41 DEF (If you're under 80 ATK, pray for a critical hit on Sampson) - CHAPTER 3 - NOTE: Do not kill anything in this chapter (other than Taloon)! End with zero experience points! Get herb from pot downstairs (far left pot) Leave town Enter Iron Safe cave - grab Chain Sickle, death warp out (equip it and hit yourself if you're at high HP) - Note: There are no encounters on the "main" floor with the water traps (and chain sickle) Run to Bonmalmo Sell sickle for Wyvern Wings (5) Talk to Prince Give wing to Tom's son/grandson (What is he??) Wing to Bonmalmo and style on the castle until night Talk to Prince behind the weapon shop Wing to Lakabalaka Dog Get Wing to Lakabalaka for speed Walk to Foxville and talk to the mayor Keep Dog forever (Tom just kept him locked up in a swamp anyway) Bonmalmo, talk to king Sell Full Plate at the armor haggler (Get 2700+ gold) - I usually sell my clothes too because whatever Save in Bonmalmo Walk to Endor Buy iron apron, iron shield, wooden hat, two herbs, maybe a wing or an herb? - Buy Bronze Armor with the extra gold from the full plate Read letter to princess to get scroll Silver Statuette cave - Basically take the longest route to get there - After the button, there's an herb, 760 gold, and iron spear on that floor. Get them all. - Possibly also grab the Morning Star. It slows the start of C5 a bit but it can still work. - Obviously get the statue Deathwarp to Bonmalmo Read scroll to King Sell all of your armor at the armor haggler to start this section with as much gold as possible (Don't worry about Wooden Hat; profit from the rest) - Buy two wings if you don't have any, and sell the Iron Spear Wing to Endor and sell the Silver Statue to the collector And now the madness begins: - Buy seven iron aprons - Wing to Bonmalmo, sell aprons (Sell for 1750+) - Other runners accept 1700 but I want to maximize my chances of getting out of here in two trips - This guy's offer range is something like 1250-1875 (not sure about the minimum). This is an even distribution. - Rarely, he'll offer a higher number, up to 3000 gold. You want at least two of these. (The offer's something like 2200-3000; never seen anything between 1875 and 2200) - Buy two wings, go to Endor - Repeat process until you have at least 36k gold. You need 35k to buy the shop, and then you want as much gold as possible to start the next segment - This means, if you only need a little more gold, you should still buy seven aprons and you should still hold out for good offers! - You want this to only take two trips but it usually takes three. If you have ~4.5k before selling the silver statue you will need 2-3 "higher offers" - Note: Each trip takes about five minutes and you only profit 2000 gold without the higher offers. Talk to King Buy shop CAPITALISM - Wake up - Buy abacus - Give to wife - Repeat until at you have least 25.6k-27.2k gold (1 vs 2 abacus at the end) Buy seven half plates and a wyvern wing Talk to king of Endor Deliver half plates Bonmalmo, buy wing and seven broad swords Endor, deliver broad swords Purchase apron, wing of wyvern (Buy Iron Shield/Wooden Hat if you're a coward, skip if you are a HERO.) Pay for tunnel completion Leave and re-enter cave, talk to old man again Wing to Endor Enter/exit the casino Purchase as many Abacus of Virtue as possible Talk to Wife Take Tom's dog on an adventure - CHAPTER 4 - Nara goes in the back Herb from pot 80 gold under seat in theatre that you never knew about Strength seed in drawer behind stage Head north to Kievs, run from everything (Inn at Kievs is free) Sell copper sword, strength seed, and dancer's costume Buy leather dress and feather hat for Mara Buy lots of herbs, one antidote herb, two wings Get lifeforce nuts from house, use on Mara Run to Orin, fight to Sphere of Silence - Use the same AI exploit from chapter two: Put Nara in the middle and let her die so that Orin tanks - If Mara is alive, get her to at least level three. - Lifeforce Nuts chest on the way to Sphere from Orin (optional; it's the room to the right of the south elevator) - Deathwarp after getting Sphere Revive Nara (I usually give Nara the Feather Hat at this point, too) Wing to Kievs and Fight to Keeleon, then Aktemto. Don't go to Haville or Everhate will yell at you. - Make sure Mara learns Sap on the way Kill Mara in the swamp inside the town and use the inn; party order is Orin/Mara/Nara Run to Gunpowder jar and death warp - Get Mystic Acorns at the start of the mine - Silver Tarot cards north of the start - Make sure Nara gets to at least level five (simply for durability; lower levels can work too) Revive Nara and prepare for Balzack - Give Nara the Sphere of Silence - Give Mara all of your herbs - Party order is Orin/Mara/Nara - Other runners switch Mara and Nara but I don't want to buy extra herbs Go to Keeleon, beat up Balzack - Turn one: Nara uses Sphere, Mara uses Sap (Reset if Nara is killed) - Until Mara dies, Nara parries and Mara either uses herbs or casts Blaze (Keep Nara's HP full and Orin's above 50) - After Mara dies, Nara either equips Tarot Cards and attacks, or casts Heal. (Nara needs to have enough HP to tank two fireballs and Orin needs to tank two physical attacks) Die to Keeleon, use Tarot Cards for swag (if he lets you) Get boarding pass, go to ship Talk to girl with brother down below, then captain RESTROOM BREAK (WR is at 2:46 somehow. zzz...) - CHAPTER 5 - WATCH EVERYONE YOU LOVE DIE Herb from pot outside panic room Feather hat where your girlfriend died Woodsman's Hut: Loot all three pots Walk to Endor Talk to Nara, talk to Mara - Put the Hero in the back if you want, but s/he's not in too much danger. Sell basic clothes, feather hat, mystic acorns, hero's stuff Buy iron shield for Hero, wooden hat for hero Go loot the silver statue cave - Go down second set of stairs, get on boat - Broad Sword on first south opening (For Hero) - Half Plate at end of hallway (For Hero) - Death Warp If needed, buy herbs and fairy water in Branca Go to Cave of Betrayal - Being level five is nice (Healmore) but you can win just fine at level four with herbs - Watch out for Mad Clowns on the way to the cave!! If they both cast firebal, it can mean a wipe! Nara can put them to sleep on Offensive, though. - If the Liclicks Surround you on turn one, consider switching to Blaze. This is what the herbs are for. - Kill the urchins before the vampire bats. If you have the MP, try to Expel the bats. They're not worth much and the hero can't always one-shot them. Get wagon & Hector Hector in lead, use Fairy Water after leaving the desert (You can't repel enemies in the desert for some reason...?) - Whenever you have a temporary (? level) character in the lead, you can repel pretty much everything. Always be doing this! South to Konenber - Grab both small medals on the ships - Save the game Climb the lighthouse! - Don't bother fighting anything on the way up (except metal slimes) because you'll probably die and have to do it again. - Bad directions: N, S, wind around to N, get Fire then NE, bosphite - Hand Mara your extra herbs before the fight - Expel the Flamers and hope Bengal gets put to sleep - Nara usually casts Sleep on Flamer A so I try to Expel Flamer B on turn one - Also, hope that Mara survives so that she learns Outside. BOAT Sail due south, pop in and out of the town (Mintos) Walk east to travelers gate shrine, get the Small Medal (1) South to castle (Soretta), Save EVEN FURTHER SOUTH to ice cave (Best cave) - Down stairs - Ogle princess - NW, take arrows on right (spiritWEEE) - SE, arrows on left - SE, stairs - NE, arrows against right wall - Leftmost down arrow (has two rights pointing to it) - Seed, return to castle (Deathwarp using Man-Eater Chest if Mara dies or doesn't know Outside) Give seed to king, get root0 - Use the inn here and your day/night should be fine Return to Endor for fairy waters (Have sevenish) Sail south west ish to the brush island, get small medal from FARJAR (2) Sail south some more and touch Haville Sail west and touch Aktemto Sail north to the vase of drought town (Seaside Village) and get small medal from dog statue (3) - I'm told you can only get this during the day Sail north to touch Santeem Sail north to Stancia - Sail to stairs in NE and get small medal from FARJAR (4) - Sail into castle, talk to red guy on second floor (right side) - Sail around to back of first floor, get small medal from second drawer (5) Return to Haville Touch Keeleon South to Monbaraba - Panon Get! Return to Mintos - Small Medal by well Get! (6) - Chapter 2 Party get! Hector Lose! Return to Aktemto and go south to Orin cave to start killin' people off - Put the following people in front of Panon (Replace Panon with Hero upon death) - Taloon < Brey < Nara < Panon < Alena < Cristo < Hero < Mara - Magic Key get; Small Medal in pot down here (7) - Mara casts Outside, you see. Return to Mintos, get fairy water - Sail southwest from Mintos to Riverton, get small medal from Bard Island (8) Return to Endor, enter castle at night to steal King's Pink Leotard and small medal (9) Return to Stancia, sail west to medal king (Sword of Miracles for Cristo, Staff of Punishment for hero, one for Alena, one for selling) Kill off: Nara, Mara, Taloon, Brey - Either use the cave north of the medal king, or let Repel expire on the way to Rosaville and have the Hero execute them. Team is: Panon, Hero, Alena, Cristo Return to Konenber, sail east to Rosaville (Follow river north) - SELL. ALL. THE THINGS!!!!!! - Sell: Cristo's copper sword, Nara's morning star, Hero's Broad Sword, pink leotard, extra staffs, and Taloon's math lab (target is 20,400) - Purchase Sword of Lethargy (Hero, extra for Ragnar), Sacred Robe for Cristo Heal at Haville, go into Keeleon - Talk to Ragnar - Style on Keeleon - Give Rangar the Full Plate that Keeleon drops and also a Sword of Lethargy Return to Santeem - heal and save in the town - Fight Balzack, get Magma Staff - Balzack has 500 HP and regenerates ~50/turn, so make sure you get upset when Panon and Ragnar waste their turns Return to Soretta, sail south to Gardenbur - Z-helm (It is in Stancia) - Put Brey in second slot to be a prisoner - Get small medal from pot west of entrance (1) - Get Fire Claw behind stairs to throne room - At armor shop, sell iron claw, anything Taloon still has, Alena's chain mail, Sword of Malice - Buy Cloak of Evasion for Alena - Get arrested - cya brey - Repel if fairy waters are gone, head south to cave - Beat up CRIMINAL - Offensive until Cristo lands Stopspell, then Defensive until he gets Increase off twice - Get Final Key and Zenithian Shield, don't get Brey Back to Rosaville - SELL ALL THE THINGS (including all staves) (target is 16,200) - Purchase: Stilletto Earrings (Alena), Dragon Mail (Ragnar), Iron Mask (Ragnar) - Don't worry about the mask if you're short. Ragnar can deal with it. Return to Endor Grind in Staff of Transform cave on Metal Babbles until Hero is at LEAST level 27 - Expel large groups of Dragonits, but I usually don't fight anything but Babbles until Alena can one-shot Bebanbars. - Metal Babbles aren't as common on the heal pad floor - Get Staff of Transform - If you want, grab the Small Medal in here (replaces the first medal in the Zenithian Armor cave later) - You'll want at least one Metal Babble after hitting level 27; otherwise you'll have to fight some extra battles to hit 30 before Necrosaro. - If you're having a super sick grind, wait until 28 and you can basically run from everything from here on out. - If you're behind PB just yolo it, leave like two Babbles early, and hope for a King Metal later Hero's XP Requirements: Level 25: 102787 total Level 26: 118192 (15405) Level 27: 135522 (17330) Level 28: 155018 (19496) Level 29: 176951 (21933) Level 30: 201625 (24674) Level 31: 229383 (27758) Return to Riverton Thy Dungeonman - Fight Blizags and Snowjives because they're glass cannons Dire Palace - Eavesdrop on SECRET MEETING - Get small medal and Aeolus Shield (Equip it on Ragnar) (2) Return to Stancia Get Zenithian Armor and two small medals (3,4) from cave north of medal man - First one through passageway on left of the pillar hallway - Second is with the armor Get Hat of Happiness for Cristo from the medal man Go to Aktemto and kill Esturk for the gas canister, suicide to the mimic south of it - If the mimic isn't cooperating or it kills Cristo and the Hero (its Robmagic targets), kill it and suicide to other monsters. - If it kills Cristo first, I'll usually do this anyway since the mimic will try to take MP from Ragnar and Alena... Revive Ragnar, go to Riverton - For safety, you can revive everyone, but if you think you'll make it to the world leaves you can just wait Get Balloon Fly north of Soretta to World Tree Bench Ragnar, get Lucia and Zenithian Sword - If you die in this dungeon, you should feel bad. - A lot of enemies in here are weak enough Alena can destroy them alone, such as Snowjives and the red whirlwind dudes. May as well fight them. Go to Konenber and get Sword of Decimation from inn Fly west to EVIL ISLAND (just sail due west and land on the first tile you cross over; you can land on any tile) - Unbench Ragnar (You'll lose Lucia if you take her to Zenithia!) - You should be able to Repel anything here unless you left the grind early. It's pretty close. - Touch Gottside on the way to the Baron's Horn shrine - Get the horn Return to Gottside, climb THE EVIL TOWER (do not have Lucia with you) - Equip Zenithian Sword to get in, then switch back to Sword of Lethargy Get to castle, get World Dew, jump in DA HOLE Hero/Alena run through the EVIL CAVE together - Only chest you grab in here is the Mirror Shield, in the middle of the "tower" at the end. Throw it on Cristo or Ragnar; it doesn't really matter which. - If you're low on EXP (level 28 or lower (hopefully not lower)) you should just use all four characters and fight your way through here - Do not fight Ogrebashers, Master Malice, Bull Bashers, or anything that kinda size; they have too much HP for not enough XP. - Pull out Cristo so that he can regen MP with his hat if you think you need it, but you really shouldn't, unless you die a lot. LAST REFUGE - If the Hero doesn't learn Transform after killing all four minibosses, you will want to look for a King Metal encounter in the Final Cave before entering his castle. - I do these bosses clockwise but it doesn't matter Gigademon has 1200 HP and regenerates 100/turn - Nothing special about this fight. Hit him until he dies. Infurnus Shadow has 950 HP and regenerates 50/turn - You can run him out of MP by using Ironize until he casts Explodet six times, but that can take a while - Lower his defense with Sword of Decimation (or bring Lucia?) Radimvice has 800 HP and regenerates 50/turn - Expel the Demighosts on turn one in case Blinky doesn't get them all with Defeat - For a free fight, start casting Fendspell on everyone, starting with Alena - For a fight that isn't free, just beat him up and hope Cristo supports with Healus Anderoug has 300 HP per target and does not regenerate (But summons more targets) - Use Aeolus shield to potentially expel them all at once. He's not worth much XP anyway. Against Necrosaro, transform into Cristo and switch him for Lucia Cast Increase 3-4 times, and then start using Sword of Decimation until you lower each form's defense once. Starting on phase three (both arms gone) prioritize putting him to sleep over lowering his defense. For safety, bench Alena after he grows new feet (I don't usually bother) - Bring Alena back in when he falls asleep - You can bench Lucia, too, but who really cares if she dies... Swap Cristo back in for the final phase (Lucia can't do anything against Bounce) - If you actually start the final phase with Necrosaro asleep, maybe use Z-sword to dispel Bounce instead of swapping her out? Necrosaro's HP: 1) 800 2) 650 3) 1023 ?) 1023 (Headless Necrotorso, before he opens up; ignore this it's just trivia) 4) 700 5) 800 6) 700 7) 1023 (Regenerates 100 HP per turn) Meaningless Endgame Stats: LV HP MP ATK DEF Hero: 31-32 200-252 134-150 165-187 180-184 Ragnar: 31-32 290-345 0 194-211 129-134 Alena: 32-33 263-307 0 162-194 112-120 Cristo: 31-33 148-187 114-133 138-147 133-135 My best chapter times: - Chapter 1: 20:45 - Chapter 2: 1:02:20 - Chapter 3: 49:08 - Chapter 4: 27:10 - Chapter 5: 4:03:03 --------------------------------------------- DW4 Condensed Notes (to remind me what I need to do in chapter five) Chapter 1: (I don't need notes for chapter one) - 35 steps, Izmit, kid, deathwarp - Flora, Izmit (GOLD CHEST), Herbs, Alex, Shoes, Healie, Deathwarp - Use shoes, get sword, grind to six, fight boss - Die to boss, rese-- Chapter 2: (I also don't need notes for chapter two) - Grind to levels 4/4/3 and kill the Humanoid without anybody dying and go to Frenor and trigger the Princess scene * Shop: Six herbs, chain mail, whatever, keep gold to revive Cristo (or grind for it on the way) - Golden Bracelet, revive Cristo, Bazaar, Santeem until night, turn in bracelet, grab nectar - Go to Endor, kill two slimes, win tournament, GET THE GIRL--Wait. Chapter 3: (I only kind of need notes for chapter three) * Buy five wings with the sickle gold - Get to the gold grinds * First grind goal is 36k (more is better), second grind goal is 25.6k-27.2k (more is a waste of time) - win chapter Chapter 4: (I don't need notes for chapter four) - Get stuff, get Orin, get Sphere, get Jar, beat Balzack Chapter 5: - Medals in Konenbur - Get the boat - Mintos -> Medal in shrine -> Soretta -> Padequia -> Soretta - Endor -> Island Medal -> Haville -> Aktemto -> Seaside -> Santeem -> Stancia - Haville -> Keeleon -> Monbaraba - Mintos (Chapter 2 Crew) - Aktemto -> Magic Key - Mintos -> Riverton - Endor - Stancia -> Medal King - Konenbur -> Rosaville - Keeleon (Ragnar) - Santeem (Die a lot) - Gardenbur - The rest of the game. Whatever. ================ Different Route Chapter 1: same Chapter 2: (I also don't need notes for chapter two) - Get Alena to level 6 before Frenor. Need 450 gold to skip the Birdsong chests without selling Cristo's stuff. - Frenor Shopping: - Sell Silk Robe, Club (105 gold) - Buy chain mail, five wings, two Antidotes, Four herbs (527 gold) - Keep 60 gold to revive Cristo - Buy the medical herbs last. If you get everything else, sell the Copper Sword at the Bazaar and buy herbs. - Sell the sword at the bazaar (could sell his armor if you really wanna do this; just need 30 gold) - Use the inn after the first Metal Slime so that Brey has 32 MP for Return/Outside x2. Chapter 3: (I only kind of need notes for chapter three) * Buy five wings with the sickle gold - Leave the Morning Star behind! Hope you don't need to take extra steps to get the fight in the desert. If you do, Deal With It™. OR: Use the inn at Branca, but you'll have to use the inn at Konenbur as well because you can't talk to the priest at night. Enter/Exit Branca (use Inn) or take two steps after casting Return, and use Fairy Water. 96 steps left at Hector's inn. 1 step left entering Konenbur 2) Konenbur Use it in Konenbur. This wastes zero steps. 75 steps left after the lighthouse. 28 steps left at Mintos. 3) Mintos Use fairy water in Mintos. This wastes 27 steps. 87 steps left at portal shrine. 35 steps left at Soretta. 4) Soretta Use fairy water in Soretta. This wastes 34 steps. 81 steps left at Soretta Cave. 16 steps left at FARJAR medal (Land/enter from the south!) 5) FARJAR Medal Use fairy water in FARJAR medal shrine (the one with the yeti). This wastes 15 steps. 100 steps left at Haville 62 steps left at Aktemto... Wears off upon stepping on land next to Seaside Shrine 6) Seaside Village Use fairy water three steps from town, right before stepping off the ship. This wastes zero steps. 125 steps left in Seaside Village 74 steps left at Santeem Castle Follow the coast until the forest. Use Fairy Water and go north. 7) North of Santeem Use fairy water on the coast above the last of three forest tiles in a row bordering the water. This wastes 6 Steps. 68 steps left at Stancia 58 steps left at Keeleon 8) Kievs sign Pass the Kievs sign and use fairy water within 6 steps of entering the hills. This wastes 0-5 steps (consumed below). 105-110 steps left at Monbaraba. 65-70 steps left at Magic Key cave Go to Mintos, wrap around the west coast and go straight south 9) On the way to Riverton Use Fairy Water on any of the four mountain tiles lined up with the one you smack into. This wastes 0-3 steps, plus the five from the last one. - If you use the leftmost one, you'll have room to screw up the sailing outside of Stancia 94-97 steps left at Riverton Head from Stancia to the Medal King... 10) On the way to the Medal King Sail west from Stancia, use fairy water at tip of peninsula (Wastes 3 steps) 116 steps left at Medal King 6 steps left at Rosaville 93 total steps wasted. Almost a full Fairy Water, but if you die to Keeleon or Balzack the steps will be consumed anyway. You could probably get away with 9 if you don't repel from Branca to Hector's Inn but that dodges 2-3 fights. Plus, ~40 steps would need to be saved before Stancia to avoid having to use fairy water in the middle of the sea :upside_down_smiley: I like this route because the first five are mega easy to remember. ========================= Summary: 1) Use Branca inn, use fairy water in Branca. 2) In Konenbur, after saving. 3) Mintos 4) Soretta 5) FARJAR medal shrine 6) Before stepping off ship next to Seaside Village 7) Rightmost of three forest tiles bordering the coast north of Santeem 8) In the hills past the Kievs sign (within six steps) 9) The leftmost of the four mountains you run into sailing south from Riverton 10) Tip of peninsula on the way to Medal King from Stancia Taloon can buy 3-5 Fairy Waters at the end of C5. Need 5-7 besides that. ========================= DW4 NEWER Condensed Notes Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3: * Buy five wings with the sickle gold - Get to the gold grinds * First grind goal is 36k (more is better), second grind goal is 24.6k - win chapter Chapter 4 Chapter 5: - Get the boat - Mintos -> Medal in shrine -> Soretta -> Padequia -> Soretta - Endor -> Island Medal -> Haville -> Aktemto -> Seaside -> Santeem -> Stancia - Haville -> Keeleon -> Monbaraba - Mintos (Chapter 2 Crew) - Aktemto -> Magic Key - Mintos -> Riverton - Endor - Stancia -> Medal King - Konenbur -> Rosaville - Keeleon - Santeem - Gardenbur - Colossus/Aeolus Shield - Zen Helm - Metal Babbles - Zen Armor - Esturk - The rest of the game ================================ Routing Scratch Notes May 2020 ================================ Chapter 2 - Early/Skip Bracelet Gold Chest? 360 gold -- Deathwarp robs you of 180 Birdsong chest is 1200, need 340 on top of it Cristo T-clothes sell for 53 1540 - 1200 Birdsong - 53 T-clothes - 180 bracelet = 107 (+Cristo/Brey revival, inn stays...)
